My Guinea pig is also losing fur but they shed their fur so they can grow their winter coat. they start sheeding during the summer season (at the end of summer begining of fall). They will keep shedding though, so you do not have to worry about anything its all natural.
If your guinea pig is young, it is normal, since they are born with all of their fur and they would start to lose fur behind their ear as they age. For the past 8 years of having 4 guinea pigs, every single one lost hair from behind their ears as they aged. However, if your guinea pig is elderly, it could have mites and you should take it to the vet. 1-4 months is a good age to reassure yourself that losing ear hair is a normal way of a cavy's (guinea pig's) life.
First of all, guinea pigs don't have fur, they have hair. That is why they are used for testing cosmetics and hair products. As a guinea pigs ages, it's hair probably gets just a little lighter or darker. But that is only true with colored guinea pigs, not albinos.
IT would have scales
If two guinea pigs were hybrid for texture and produced eight offspring, and six of the offspring had rough fur, the fraction of offspring with rough fur would be 6/8, which simplifies to 3/4. So, three-fourths of the offspring had rough fur.
lots, but mostly being hunted for their fur.
If it gets super super long or has lots of tangles, then yes
Your guinea pig be missed some vitamins. I don't now what.Give he/she more vitamins that can be find in good guinea pig food!

If they are losing fur it is most likely do to mites.
either mites (which can get treated) or an skin infection which will go away and it's fur will grow back
well .... it could be that your guinea pig has mites but it could also be something from outside. Something you can do to please your guinea pig is to masauge it in back of its ears.
it can be losing fur due to stress or lack of vitamin C. I have a guinea pig that was given to me that hair loss and i read about it so i got some vitamin C stuff for her. If your guinea pig is still losing its fur after that then i would call a vet.
Guinea Pigs are born with fur. I am not sure about hamsters.
yes they are the only rodent that is born with fur
There could be several causes including illness, mites, fighting with other animals. Best way to get an accurate diagnosis is to see your Vet.
