In older military dog tags there was a notch to place between the two upper front teeth of a soldier should he die in combat. The jaw would then be firmly wedged on the dog tag too ensure the soldier could be identified when his body was retrieved.
I don't know what kind of dog tags you mean. If you mean the ones that are required by law you can get them at Wal-Mart by the sports section. If you mean a personalized tag you can get one at Petco or a popular pet store. Hope this helps!

US military - pretty much the way they do now. They used to have a soldiers serial number but now have social security number and they used to have a small V shaped notch along the bottom edge. The notch was thought to there in order to wedge the dogtag in-between a dead soldiers teeth. The truth is that the notch was to hold the metal tag in place on the equipment that produced them.

It is impossible to unlock all dog tags in the game, however it is ALMOST impossible to have the dog tags in the TAKEN section, mainly because two of the dog tags you can only get for participating in the creation of the game itself. But excluding those two, it would probably take over half a year, you would have to be playing constantly (I would NOT recommend doing that.) expecally for the gun dog tags and the reaching level Colonel Service Star 100 dog tag.
