REDBEARD ANSWER:
A cracked block cannot be repaired. Either replace the engine or get rid of the car. However, if you're not certain that it's a cracked block you can check the head gasket and/or freeze plugs. In general Detroit engine blocks seem to be a little more durable than some and you don't get quite as many cracked blocks. Head gaskets however are common especially if the engine has overheated.

Aluminum blocks can be repaired and welded the same as cast iron the difficulty is in the material being welded and where the crack is. Aluminum can be tig welded cast iron is more difficult as the block has to be heated to near red hot to be welded then there is a good chance the weld will not take but have done this on cast iron heads and welded with a high Nickel rod and it has held.

Why is Water is coming into the car and overheating?

If you mean engine coolant is getting into the car, the heater core is leaking coolant causing the coolant level to drop and that causes the engine to over heat.

Can head gasket leaks destroy an engine?

yes, especially if the leak is causing coolant to leak, you can run out of coolant. then overheat.

How does the engine coolant does this work?

When the engine heats up to a certain temperature, the thermostat opens up and lets the coolant flow through the engine. Heat from the engine is absorbed by the coolant, which then cycles back to the radiator. Heat from the coolant is exchanged to the air which flows through the radiator fins, thus causing the coolant to rapidly cool down.

Will increasing the flow rate of coolant cool the engine faster?

No, if the coolant circulates too quickly it will not have time to cool down and re-cool the engine. The coolant would become extremely hot, and cause your engine to overheat and thus causing possible engine damage.

What is the ratio of engine coolant over water for a 1994 Toyota corolla?

Ok, 50/50 is pretty much the norm. Coolant is not what keeps your engine cool, the water is. The coolant is what keeps the water from freezing in cold weather as well as from causing corosion to your engine.

What could cause coolant to overflow even though engine temperature is normal on a cool day and no coolant was added?

The engine needs to be flushed.the coolant ports have a build up of gunk causing the engine to run hotter. The heated water expands to much causing it to over flow from the reserve tank.

Will a 3.8 liter engine fit in a beretta?

Naming the 3.8 engine and giving year of 'beretta' would certainly help.

What causes steam to come from the hood of a car?

That'll be your coolant, and there could be a number of things causing it... a blown head gasket will do it... a coolant leak where the coolant leaks onto a hot engine block will do it... a faulty radiator cap which opens too easily can cause this.... excess coolant causing the system to overpressurize and have to relive frequently will, as well.

Will a 2.8 engine from a 1988 Chevy beretta fit a 1989 Chevy blazer?

Yes it will, but you have to put all the blazer engine stuff onto the beretta engine...

Why wont the coolant fan on a 1991 Chevy Beretta turn on?

The most common cause is a bad coolant temp sensor on the engine block (located near the thermostat housing). It could be the fan relay switch (located on the passenger side firewall, inside the engine bay). Or it could be the fan motor itself is no good.
