If the check engine light is on, that means the computer has set a code, a number, that will need to be read by a diagnostics unit. Some places like Autozone may still do it for free. Once you have the code, you then need to determine what part is setting the code. For example you may have a code for low fuel pressure. It could be the fuel pump, or it could be one fuel injector, it may be all of your injectors, it may be a blocked fuel line so as you can see the problem is usually linked to a series of parts and the way to determine which part is failing is by testing the parts. Some of this can be done without electronic equipment and some cannot. You may have a blocked fuel filter. I suggest you start with a new fuel filter which is a maintenace item anyway if you haven't replaced it, and possibly a new air filter as well. If you engine is starving for air it will run poorly as well. These 2 filters should be maintained regularly. It takes 3 things for an engine to run, fuel, air and spark. Go get your codes read and then determine a path to finding the problem step by step.
you have a problem with your engine and and its emissions. take it to auto zone for a free check.
The check engine light on the Honda Pilot is an indicator that there may be a problem with the engine. This could be minor such as air or water in the gas tank or could be an indicator of something more serious.
I have a 1990 Honda accord ex and my check engine light the car goes form a high rev to a low rev when I first turn on the car. Is this a vacume line problem or a voltage problem?
The check engine light comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, a check engine light is lit when there is a problem in the emissions or somthing that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions. If the check engine light is flashing a misfire has been detected
On most vehicles, after the problem is taken care of, the check engine light resets automatically after the ignition is turned off and then the engine is started again. If you have fixed one problem, a second problem probably exists.
Fix the problem then you can clear the code.
Computer has detected a problem with the emission's system.
There is a problem with the emissions system. Take it to a professional for diagnosis and repair.
The Check Engine Light comes on when the ECU detects a problem with the emissions system.
The check engine light indicates a problem in the engine controls or emissions system, have the computer codes read and you will know exactly what your car is trying to tell you.
It means there is a problem with the emissions system. Have this diagnosed and repaired by a professional.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
