Meg is short for megabyte, which is why a lot people get confused.
There is a difference between, MBps and Mbps.
MBps = MegaBytes per Second
Mbps = Megabits per Second
Notice the difference between the upper and lower case 'b'? It matters.
For instance all isp's use the Mbps = Megabits which makes it look like a good offer.
If you're referring you have a '3 Meg' connection, than it's 3 Megabit (Mbit/ps or Mbps).
3 Mbps = 0.375 MBps (Anotherwards it's not 1 MegaBytes)
If you want 1 MBps (Megabytes) = 1 MBps = 8 Mbps
If you see an offer for 8 Mbps you'll be getting approx. 1 Megabyte down.
No. 3 Meg (slang for Megabites) is a capacity of storage. 100 Mbps (megabites per second) is a speed of transfer.
Think of it this way: 3 feet is a distance, 100 feet per second is a speed. There is a common unit (in this case, feet) but they are referring to completely different forms of measurement.
It's really fast. But if you can afford 4G go for that. But 3 mbps is not a joke.
