2002 Dodge Grand Caravan I Drove It To The Store Got Out Came Back Started It Back Up Put In Reverse Was Backing Heard A Loud Pop Or I Thought I Hit Something Tried To Procede Would Not Move Put In Drive Will Not Move Started Making A Crackling Sound Or Frying Sound The Sound Stop When Put In Park But When Put Back In Reverse Or Drive It Still Make The Same Sound And Still Won't Move Please Help!
One possibility is brake(s) locking up.
Not sure of the question, but if your car is less than 7 yrs old, apply the brake first, then you can move the shift selector.
The same problem with my Lincoln town car. When disassembled the transmission, it was evident that the reverse piston did not move, "valve body" can not reverse the piston to move. All valves tested by documentation. I can not understand the problem!
A car that won't move when in reverse could indicate a problem with the transmission. It could also indicate a problem in the gear selector.
