The Sims Online is a multiplayer game of the popular game The Sims. The gameplay is based on The Sims, except each of the Sims are controlled by other players all over the world instead of by your computer. It is a huge online community in which other players can play, talk (typing), and roleplay amongst one another. Just about everything you could do in The Sims, you can do in The Sims Online. The only exception is that in The Sims Online, you are playing with other people all over the world.
The Sims Online requires an internet connection in addition to the CD to install and play the game. You have to pay monthly or yearly fees as a separate charge from your ISP in order to connect to the server run by EA Games for The Sims Online. The faster your Internet connection is, the less you will have to deal with lag issues. Lag is what it is called when there are disruptions in the flow of the game because the connection cannot keep up with the information sent to and from the server and your computer. While it is possible to play with a dial-up connection, it may be rather slow.
