The factory alarm can not be disabled. It is reset by unlocking the car with the remote or with the key in the door.
You turn the alarm off with the key fob(remote) or by unlocking a front door or liftgate with the key. As far as removing the alarm or shutting it off permanently, you can not it is part of the body computer.
Key fob, on my wife's for alarm
Try unlocking either the driver's door or the liftgate with the key.
Hi If it is a little red light on the left of the 2 air things, it is your alarm. To activate, lock the car with the big button on key fob, straight after press the smaller button on key fob to activate. You need to unlock the car via the key fob in order to deactivate it, just unlocking with the key dont work Nathan
If you know for sure that the alarm is functioning correctly, but the key-fob doesn't operate - either the fob is faulty or the battery is flat. Replace the battery - if the fob operates the alarm, then the battery was flat. If the alarm still doesn't operate, then the fob is faulty. You can always test the battery with a multimeter - although you may have to dismantle the remote to get at the battery !

It varies from c (ar to car...some cars will silence the auto alarm when a key is used to open the door, or to start the engine. But as far as I can remember with my 95 SAAB 900SE Convertible...the alarm would be turned on when you used the remote fob to auto-lock the doors, and would disarm itself when you used the remote fob to auto-unlock the doors. If you locked the car with the fob, and then unlocked it with the key instead of the remote, the alarm would NOT be disarmed, and would go off! (That is, would literally "sound the alarm".) The only way I ever found to turn it off was to use the key fob again. I do NOT know what you would do if you locked it with the fob and then the fob was lost or broke or had its battery die. I had purchased the car used...the previous owner had told me there was no other way to turn off the alarm other than using the fob...but I never investigated it any deeper.
To re fresh the alarm, remove the fuse to the alarm, for 30 seconds then re fit, but be ready on the alarm key fob, to turn the alarm off, becose it will sound and flash the lights, when you first put the alarm fuse back in. After you turn off the alarm witht he key fob, it should work as normal alarm again :).
