Conventional advice says you should never feed a dog bones, particularly chicken bones, and doubly so cooked chicken bones. There is a possibility with any bone that the dog will not be able to digest the bone and it could cause an obstruction or laceration of the gastrointestinal tract, which is potentially fatal. Chicken bones tend to carry a higher risk of this, as they are smaller and easier to swallow whole. Cooked chicken bones carry an even higher risk as they are often quite brittle and tend to shatter into sharp splinters when chewed.

Having said all this, some dogs can handle chicken bones, even cooked chicken bones, just fine - my parents have fed them to their large breed (90+ pound) dogs all their lives and never had a problem.

This really depends on the size of the dog and the chicken bones. Chicken bones are rather small, and to a big dog who hasn't learned how to chew bones properly, this could be dangerous. Raw chicken bones are much safer to give to small dogs, again, provided they know how to chew and don't try and gulp the food down whole. You can always feed a bigger piece of raw chicken, such as a whole or half a bird to ensure the dog cannot swallow bones whole, or you could hold one end of the bone to stop gulping.

Never feed a dog cooked bone. Cooked bones are hard and brittle and can splinter into sharp shards. Raw bones are softer and much less dangerous.

small bones and coked bones are easily broken into shards by dogs. They swallow them whole and end up with perinitis as a result of the intestine or stomach being torn open from the inside. Cooking weakens large bones allowing the dog to break them up.

Yes, all types of animal and human bones are not suitable for dogs. The bones can easily splinter and cause harm to the dog.

You don't need to cook any bone for a dog. You should always give them the bone raw. A raw bone is soft, a cooked bone is dry and brittle, it can splinter and damage the dog from the inside. Just to clarify, NEVER give a dog a cooked bone! Always raw!
