These stories also include a lot of comedy and can maybe equal the fun of Skulduggery Plesant.
Micheal Scott: "The secrets of the immortal Nicolas Flamel" is about a pair of 15-years-old twins who got found by the immortal Nicolas Flamel and tutored to learn to use their magic in a 6-Novel cycle to save the world. This story is less funny and a lot more serious than Skulduggery Plesant, but uses the same "kids/young preople are the heroes" way.
Rick Riordan: "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" Is a saga that starts with the 12 years old boy Percy Jackson finding out that he is a half-god in a world where the old Greek gods and myth are reality, again a story with lot of funny parts. Most readers suggest to ignore the movie and read the novels first, the movie story is altered in many ways (it starts with Percy Jackson being already 17 years old).
Joanne K. Rowling: Harry Potter is another series of novels about a growing up boy learning about magic, again with a lot of funny elements.
