France will soon celebrate the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One (November 11th). Several towns and villages in the northeastern part of the country will honor American, British and Canadian soldiers with remembrance ceremonies. I read in a French national newspaper that on the 25th of October the town of Loos-en-Gohelle, located about 30 miles south of Lille, will honor AmerIndians who served in the Great War, of which several are buried in the local cemetery. A special DVD will be issued honoring their engagement. The Association Araca (Association de Recherche des Anciens Combattants Amérindiens; their site is in French: http://membres.lycos.fr/araca62/) was created to research and record the presence and destiny of these Indians during the Great War.
