Jesus said to render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar, and render to God that which belongs to God. People need and use your money, NOT GOD. We should give with a free heart and not regret doing it.....not for show, but because we truly want to help because of the LOVE we have in us from God....for if we have been Born Again of God, we are Born of LOVE. Its not just about the 10 percent as under the Law, but now its giving 100 percent of your whole heart, soul, mind and strength. If you have God in your life, you will give according to how much you can and want to afford. May God richly bless whomever reads this.....

Why do Christians care about Hebrew scripture?

Because the vast majority of Christians believe that the Hebrew scriptures are just as valid as the new testament scriptures. While parts of the old testament scriptures have been overridden by Jesus's death on the cross and the transformation of living under the law to now living under grace, most Christians still believe that the old testament is still part of God's word. In fact, much of the new testament relates back to the old testament, the book of Hebrews in particular. Many Christians look to the old testament to find prophesies fulfilled in the life of Christ especially in the book of Isiah.

What New Testament book relies on the most Old Testament books?

Matthew's Gospel contains more refereences to the Old Testament than any other New Testament book. Sometimes the author pointed to the Old Testament as prefiguring events in his Gospel, sometimes he would just write passages that reflected Old Testament passages and let the discerning reader find the parallel passage in the Old Testament. He wanted his Gospel to be seen as the successor to the Hebrew scriptures.

Was the Septuagint just the first 5 books of the Bible?

AnswerNo. The first five books of the Bible are called the Pentateuch. The Septuagint ('LXX') was an early Greek translation of all the Hebrew scriptures. It certainly began with the translation of the Pentateuch, as these were regarded as the five most important scriptures, but the project continued until all the scriptures were available to the Jews of the diaspora, who could not read the scriptures in Hebrew.

What do the Scriptures in the Bible mean?

A:When the word 'scripture' is used in the New Testament, it is a reference to the Hebrew scriptures, or what we now call the Old Testament. The one partial exception to this is in 2 Peter 3:16, which refers to Paul's epistles as scripture, along with the "other scriptures." Second Peter was arguably the last book of the New Testament to have been written, dated by scholars to just before the middle of the second century, and by then Paul's epistles were considered scripture, as is reflected in this mistake in an epistle that was intended to appear to have been written by the apostle Peter.

It has always been more than just a tax. Tithing is recognition and worship of the One Who created and actually owns all. Worshiping God in a prescribed manner has existed since the Garden of Eden.Giving based on need is not Biblical tithing but giving of alms. (It is not worship but a good work.) Tithing is not to meet God's need (or the church's needs), but to worship God: to put Him in His rightful place: first!Tithing is God's method of supporting His ministry. A blessing is promised if you do.Tithing is a continual reminder God is your source. Tithing helps combat selfishness, greed, and materialism. Why Christians Do Not Tithe1. Unbelief2. Fear3. Yes. Genesis 14 describes Abraham tithing 10% of everything to Melchizedek. Genesis 28:22 describes tithing as well. And later at the giving of the law in Leviticus 27:30 and again in Deuteronomy 14:22 and 26:12 Matthew 23:23 just to name a few.

Why is the old testament called the Hebrew Scriptures?

The name Old Testament derives from the Christian view of the text, namely that it refers to the first covenant that God made, i.e. the older of the two covenants or testaments. The New Testament refers to the second covenant that God made, this time through Jesus. It just happens that because Christianity is derived from Judaism, the Jewish Bible is nearly the same as the Old Testament.
