It is possible for Bull Sharks to live in Lake Erie. They have been found in Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, and the Mississippi River. because they can control the amount of salt water they need through their gills but they need some salt water.no there isn't never a report in ohio 'pa or ny. and Canadian dept. of conservation.i guess you saw one jump Niagara falls you putz.st lawernce river is too much current to get to lake Ontario and then some how make it thru welland canal they would die from too much fresh water for a trip that far.the lakes are not brackish water like the missippi river. they can not live more than 3 days without brackish water.where do you idiots get this stuff I'm sure it was a 6ft. sturgeon that has a dorsal fin that looks sharkish they will come into the shallows chasing spawning suckers I saw this with U.S.fish and game wardens as I took them out on the river

It is possible to have sharks in lake Erie. I watched "Monster Quest" on the history channel and Sharks are in shallow water in the Hudson River. And all the Great Lakes connect to the Hudson River. So they sharks could travel up the river and adapt to the waters.

Ally235:

There are no sharks!

Actually it isn't possible, because they can't adapt. They are saltwater animals, and Lake Erie is fresh water, so thankfully no. But you shouldn't swim in Lake Erie at this time, it's extremely polluted. Remember to recycle and NOT dump anything into Lake Erie!!!

Sharks can in fact Live in lake Erie they have also been found in lake Michigan etc. It is just the journey they would have to travel in order to gain access to Lake Erie. See attached reference

Hollandsworth20: Yes, I happen to know much about sharks. True, most sharks couldn't, but, the bull shark could live in fresh water. I am not trying to scare anyone, I swim in the lake, but the bull shark is one of the most aggressive sharks on the planet. There is definitely not been any seen, if there are, there are few. Have fun swimming:)

Kekeangel: Actually Ally, it is possible, bull sharks, and tiger sharks can live in lake eerie or any of the great lakes. The Hudson river leads to all of the great lakes and there has been several sightings in the Hudson River. According to Shark Week on History channel, they can adapt to the fresh waters without a problem, after they give birth to their pups, the great lakes will not be safe to swim in, the deadliest sharks may become a new resident of the Great lakes, I'm not trying to scare anyone but its possible the Hudson does not go to the great lakes the erie canal no longer flows all the way plus a trip that far is too much fresh water the rivers they get up are slow brackish water the canal finger lakes adirondak and great lakes are oxegen rich (trout and salamon) waters they cannot live more than 3 days in that water they would be dead before they made it to Syracuse the locks tying great lakes to Hudson are gone a lot of the canal is still navigatable but the whole length is cut up

Happy swimming :)

yes there have been sightings of bull sharks (the most dangerous shark to humans) they are murky water fish so i wouldn't go there on a day when the water is murky and if or when you do go there make sure that you are not bleeding because sharks can smell blood from a long ways away bull sharks can live in both salt and fresh water
