Not until the child has reached adult age. In order for the child to be adopted the parent had to give up parental rights so they no longer have rights to the child.

When a mother dies intestate and her only child was adopted at birth are there any inheritance rights?

A legally adopted child is considered the parent's child just as much as if they had given birth to that child. So being adopted does not affect the rights or the heirship of the deceased parent's house and assets, even if they have biological children, as well. What does matter, is the state's laws regarding heirships with or without a will. You need to consult an attorney if there is no will to see what your rights are.

Should a same-sex married couple be allowed to adopt and what are the pros?

Yes. There is no legitimate reason to prohibit same-sex married couples from adopting children. The advantages of being adopted by a same-sex married couple are (1) a stable family life at home; and, (2) whatever benefits accrue from being adopted by an opposite-sex married couple, since the gender of the parents does not affect their ability to successfully parent adopted children.

Can non custodial parent petition for cessation child support when child refuses any contact whatsoever?

No. The child is well within his/her rights to choose not to see the non-custodial parent. However, the non-custodial parent still contributed to that child being born, and is therefore required to help provide for him/her.

Can a step parent refuse visitation if in fear of well being in home?

I assume it's not the step parent that is granted visitation. This is something the step parent and spouse have to work out since it's the spouse who has asked for visitation and therefor it's her responsibility to make it work. If the step parent own the house he can choose who's in it and who is not and same goes for the spouse if she owns it. The step parent have no authority over the visitation order.
