In some cases, it could be used but not always.

For example, if an acid is required only for its H+, then it could be used but if you require a very strong oxidizing agent then you should use Nitric acid and if you require a dehydrating agent, then sulphuric acid would come in use.

Why is nitric acid not often used as a standard solution for neutralization titrations?

The usual primary standard for acid-base titration is sulfuric acid. Nitric acid tends to lose NO2 by volatilization and HCl is also more volatile.

What happens when you add sulfuric to nitric?

Nothing actually happens. However, if you add concentrated sulphuric acid to fuming nitric acid, you will have created aqua regia which will dissolve gold. Neither acid alone will do this, and it is used as a test for gold. Note. aqua regia is latin for royal water.

What substances have a strong acid in them?

A single substance will not have an acid 'in' it, but it can be an acid. The hydrochloric acid in our stomachs is a strong acid. Other examples are sulfuric acid (in wet batteries) and nitric acid which is used to make fertilizers and dyes.

What you can mix in nitric acid?

Nitric acid is very corrosive and a very strong acid. You can mix in water but remember add acid to the water and not water to the acid. When mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid it forms an excellent nitrating mixture for organic compounds. When doing a chloride titration with Silver Nitrate, Nitric acid is used to acidify and help the titration. There are many other uses also which involve mixing chemicals with nitric acid.
