Dont know about a 91,but I had a 68 half ton Chevy 4x4 with a steel bed on it,and I wired 4x4 blocks of wood onto the rear axle housing,to keep the bed from sitting on the tires,and I hauled a full 500 gallon water tank on it several times.at 8 pounds per gallon,that's 2 tons. it also had a 292 6 cylinder in it with a three speed on the column.Dont know how safe it was,though.
