You shouldn't add chemicals to a pool in which people are swimming. Add the chemicals, ensure that you've made the correct adjustment to the water chemistry and that the water is safe, and then allow people back in.

To be honest, it probably wouldn't hurt them - but it wouldn't be wise.

Is sodium bicarbonate the same as sodium carbonate?

No Sodium carbonate is Na2CO3 while sodium bicarbonate is NaHCO3 Sodium carbonate is a stronger base.

Is the sodium bicarbonate the same as sodium carbonate?

No; sodium carbonate is Na2CO3, with two sodium ions, while sodium bicarbonate is NaHCO3 and has a hydrogen ion instead of a sodium ion.

Is sodium bicarbonate and corn starch the same?

No, Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) is washing soda. It is a stronger base (more alkaline) than sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) or baking soda. Sodium bicarbonate may also be called sodium hydrogen carbonate.

What is the difference between sodium carbonate and sodium hydrogen carbonate when they are heated?

Unlike sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate will be dissociated while heating.

Is NaHCO3 a metal?

No. Sodium bicarbonate is an ionic compound consisting of sodium ions, hydrogen ions and carbonate ions. While sodium is a metal, the compound in whole is not.

2What is the formula for sodium bicarbonate?

I assume you mean you want the molecular formula for sodium bicarbonate - if you wanted a balanced equation, you would need another substance to react with But sodium bicarbonate = NaHCO3 While the above answer is help full I am going to assume that the question was what is the balanced equation for the decomposition of sodium bicarbonate. 2NaHCO3--> Na2CO3+CO2+H2O in further detail the reaction for this formula is not decomposition; it is, in fact, combustion because of the carbon dioxide and water in the products of the equation.

Why is mixing sodium bicarbonate and hydrochloric acid a chemical change?

Both reactants produce other products: carbon dioxide (gas), water and sodium chloride, while hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate disappear.

Are baking soda and Clorox the same?

No. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate and is used in cooking. Clorox is a solution of water and sodium hypochlorite. While they both contain sodium, they are very different.

What is the common use for sodium carbonate?

Sodium carbonate is an odorless, white, alkaline powder that is used by manufacturers in making soap and glass. Sodium carbonate is somewhat similar to sodium bicarbonate in terms of their chemical composition; the difference is that sodium bicarbonate is a household item which may be used in cooking while sodium carbonate is used for cleaning.

How is baking soda a desiccant?

A desiccant absorbs and holds water, drying out the environment around it. Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, separates into it's ion forms. The sodium acts to draw the water in while the bicarbonate ion reacts with the water to form carbonic acid and a hydroxide ion. The baking soda will continue this process until saturated, i.e. the reaction of water with bicarbonate ion reaches equilibrium.

How safe is it to drink sodium bicarbonate after meal?

While you do need to be careful with the high sodium content, bicarbonate has many health benefits. It should be taken on an empty stomach. Only use in low amounts such as 1/4 teaspoon 2x per day. If you are taking prescription meds, you need to check with your physician first.
