Yes you can, as long as you are a visitor and don't live here. If stopped by police you might have to show proof that you have an airline ticket back to your country, and that you did not overstay the 3/6 or 12 months visa. For 30 days if you are a non-resident alien (vacation etc.). If you stay in the U.S. longer you must have either an International License (which is valid for 1 year) or you must obtain a drivers license in one of the 50 states.
You cannot drive in the US on a UK drivers license, or ANY other foreign license (except Canada & Mexico). You must apply for an International Drivers License issued under the auspices of the AAA (American Automobile Association). I'm told that it is a relatively simple process.

Yes. Any motorised vehicle in the United Kingdom requires a license.
Not in the UK
No - a suspended licence prohibits you from dirving ANY vehicle you would normally be covered to drive.
This completely depends on which country/state you live in. In the UK, for example you have to be 17 before you can get your drivers license whilst in North Dakota you can get a drivers license at 14.
Foreign driving licences can be used in the UK for a maximum of 1 year by temporary residents. Permanent residents must obtain a UK licence before they can drive in the UK.
you have to be 17 year old
It is one of the accepted documents required for a drivers license in the UK. Other accepted forms are 1) current/valid passport; 2) UK certificate of naturalization; 3) EEA identity card.
