Can you go for a pregnancy test in a clinic if you are not 16 yet?

Do a home pregnancy test (maybe not at home if you are trying to avoid your parents finding out for now!!) But to make sure it is as accurate as possible be sure to use your morning urine if possible. Whatever you do don't drink a tone of fluids just so you can urinate to do the test. That will dilute your urine and can cause a false reading. Also, wait until you are at least 1-2 days before your expected period. If it comes up positive, you may feel the need to do a couple of more though your outcome probably won't change. If you feel you are pregnant and it gives you a negative reading try another one because a womans hCG levels (the pregnancy hormone) double every two days. There are a few contributing factors that can give you a false pregnancy test reading negative when you really are pregnant (medications, timing of the test, etc.). If they are all positive you are going to have to tell your parents eventually but to help you out you might want to remain calm and to keep your parents calm you might want to say something like this "Look, mom, dad I know you had big plans for me and wanted me to grow up with certain expectations but I have made some mistakes in my life and I need you to be supportive about this." Then announce in whatever fashion you wish that you are pregnant then add, " but I don't need you to be angry about this, at least if you are going to be angry please don't be angry while around me. I realize I may have made a mistake or I at least wasn't ready for this yet. But if all I feel is anger from you and the family that is probably going to cause some resentment from me toward my baby. And I don't want that. Everything is going to be okay, even though I don't know exactly how yet. Just please be supportive of this. I am going to be receiving enough punishment from myself just going through highschool being pregnant and all of my plans being changed; I really don't need the added stress from you guys."

You should be able to go to any clinic no matter how old you are and they will help you without your parents knowing, if you are under 16 some states may have laws about child protection and makin sure you are taken care of and safe. Look in the blue pages of your phone book for teen pregnancy lines and they can help you. But the best thing to do is talk to your mom or someone close to you that is an adult. Supprisingly they may be mad for a day or so but just make sure you cry and show them that you are scared because you probably are and things will work out. Most parents would rather have their daughters or son's get good care than loose them over something like this. A baby's face make everyone happy.

I live in PA and you can go to any women's health clinic and have a pregnancy test done without your parents or guardian having to give consent. I believe that this is probably true in any state. Just make sure that you tell them your parents do not know and to please not leave any messages, they will be discrete if they do call so don't worry. If you think you are pregnant and need help look in your phone book under the blue pages for teen pregnancy and you should find help lines there or call your local hospital and they will guide you in the right direction.
