No, supposedly it is unconstitutional to jail anyone for a debt in the United States. You go to jail for contempt of court, meaning you did not appear for a hearing, or provided a satisfactory explanation for why you could not obey an order of the court. In essence, it comes down to the interpretation of the judge as to whether your efforts to follow the order of the court is valid. If they would do this on all debt, that end up going to court for collections, perhaps we would have less people in debt. They would not be going to debtors prison, just simply being jailed for not obeying an order of the court. It just happens to address a debt.
New Jersey: GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN.

No. To be eligible you have to, among other criteria, be able to seek full time employment which you would not be able to do while in jail.
Impossible to answer this question without knowing more about the actual offense. New Jersey is known for having some of the toughest gun laws in the US, and a judge may well sentence you to jail time, first time, or not.
lol
The penalty for a DWI offense in New Jersey is the removal of one's license for 7 months for a first time offense if they fail to provide a test. The maximum penalty is 12 hours jail. For a second offense this increases to 2 days jail and 2 years without a license.
It depends on what the officer wants to do that stops you. He can take you to jail and hold you until PA decides what to do.

No, New Jersey is named after the European Jersey. That's why it's called 'new' jersey.
There are some titles you do not want your hometown to be labeled with. One of which is the city that has had the most mayors serve jail time. That is a title currently held by Camden, New Jersey.
