An Action Replay isn't a game in itself, it's a cheat enabler. What use would the cheats be, without a game to use them on?

Does the action replay have to be in ds to have the cheats?
For the regular DS, no. You put the DS Action Replay in, and then removed it, before putting the game in and selecting the cheats you want. Due to enhanced security measures though, that wouldn't work for the DSi or the 3DS so their action replays have a slot in them for the game you want to use them on, the action replay is itself inserted into the console. The game has to stay there while you play it.
Where do you find action replay on your ds?
You put it in the usual card slot and put your ds game in the action replay then press play game and it will take you to the action replay screen

If your action Replay is the old version, try what I did. This always worked for me. Just put the action replay in WITHOUT the game. Go ahead and run your codes. Now, take your action replay out and put the game in. Then play. The codes work. This always worked for me, I hope it works for u.

first you choose your codes, then the action replay saves them on your ds (short term only) then you put the game back in to play the game :)

I don't have one but you can look them up or i think play the game with the action replay and it gets added.

You don't need action replay to play the game its just this cheat thing you can have on it. I have Animal Crossing : Wild World but i don't have action replay and action replay just lets you access cheats and codes and things like that. I hope this helps x
How do you install actionreplay DS to your Nintendo DS?
You don't need to install it. Take the Action Replay, insert the game card you are going to play into the slot at the top of the Action Replay. Then when you put in the Action Replay in the DS Card Slot and play the game, you will see a codes screen. From this screen, select the game and codes you would like to turn on or input and then play the game. The cheats will then be activated. Warning: Do not put on too many cheats. It may cause the game to glitch or cheat. The game or your DS could get hacked or damaged from some codes or the Action Replay itself. Use at your own risk.
