As a single person you are entitled to the single compensation rate. When you marry you get the "with spouse" rate. Add children and the amount goes up. This applies to 30% and above ratings. You have to be sure to notify the VA whenever there is a change and provide marriage, divorce, death or birth records.
The VA will go back as far as necessary if you turn in the documentation and the event was some time ago.
Yes
If a veteran is receiving a high enough rating the veteran's dependents also receive a benefit. Any time a legal change of dependent status happens will determine if an additional payment is made or decreased.
Marriage, Birth and Addoption are legal processes of adding a person as a dependent.
Divorce, Death, Emancipation are some processes that will remove a dependent.
Make sure you properly notify the Department of Veteran Affairs of any changes. If they over pay a veteran they will subtract teh over paid money in one big chuck.
VA disability compensation should NOT be included in the calculations as income for either spousal and child support. It is completely a separate property asset that is not divisible.
Your VA Disability check is NOT taxable. VA Disability is a compensation NOT earned income.
The last time base VA Disability Compensation rates were raised was in 2018.
