Thimbles do come in different sizes, but to give you an idea of how much they will hold, I measured mine. It's a small one since my hands are small, so it measures 2 cm across the top, 1 cm across the bottom, and measures 2 cm from top to bottom. I used a syringe to measure the amount of water it holds, which is 2 ml (which is the same as 2 cc's).
The capacity of a standard thimble is 50 mL. However, thimbles used for measurement can also come in sizes of 25, 35, 125, 175, and 250 mL.
Measure acrooss the thimble across edge to edge. Take half of the measuement and multiply it times PI ( 3.14 ) the answer is the diameter.
