CO2 and O2 can not be used in the same time for shielding gas in MIG welding, it would create too much oxidation of the molten metal.

What is the Different between TIG arc welding and gas welding?

Gas welding basically used for weaker joints(in sheets) and arc welding for stronger one(plates). mobile welding (not in a shop)is the ideal time for arc welding . gas welding is the way to go as far as production is concerned , but requires environment with little air circulation or wind , plus gas bottle , machine , and a short lead , which makes it ideal for shop work answer Gas welding - generally use for welding of thin plates/pipes. Less heat input and less likely to burn off the edge of the plates (undercut). It is a more expensive process because of gas shielding. Arc welding - use for thicker plates usually with larger size electrodes. Higher weld production rate. Shielding by means of electrode coating. Both processes can meet the required mechanical properties usually

What is a welding transformer?

A welding transformer is an electrical transformer used in welding power supply. It pulls relatively low current drawn from the mains power (typically limited to 15 A to avoid tripping the circuit breaker) and converts it to the typical 50 A to 500 A used in arc welding and higher currents used in spot welding. The main difference between a Normal Step Down Transformer & a Welding transformer , is Not only to Step Down ( lower ) the outlet supply voltage and at the same time increase the Available Output Circuit Current, but to be also able withstand the Short Circuit Conditions on the Welding Output Side and especially for the Magnetic ( Iron Lamination Core ) Part of the Transformer. This Magnetic Path difference prevents the Supply side Electrical Circuit from Oveloading , espcially during the Striking of the Arc, when the Welding Electrode & the Welding Job touch to initiate an Arc, after which the Welding Electrode is lifted slightly by Experience, to maintain the required weld flow. A Normal Transformer of equivalent rating will not be able witstand this operation without burning out.

Why do you think that workers built the railroad from both sides at the same time?

The continental railroad was built from both ends at the same time to get it finished in half the time. The genius of this also was that the two sides started competing right away to try to beat the other side to the finish point, which got the railroad finished even faster.

How much time is required to complete education in welding?

How much time is required to complete education in welding depends on the type of welding education you are seeking. The American Welding Society webpage is a great place to get answers, and for Canadians, the Canadian Welding Society.
