****No British casualties were reported, but a majority of them were injured.
The Boston Massacre was greatly propagandized during that time period; many of the Americans (patriots, colonists) twisted the facts in a way that made everyone sympathize for them and grow deep hatred for the British (redcoats). The truth: a redcoat was merely guarding a building (i can't recall which one..) when a few pesky boys began making fun of him, and in a sense, tormenting and teasing him. What had started out as one-on-one bullying became the fury of a crowd--but the poor redcoat could do nothing but back away. Since the ground was dusted in snow, the colonists made snowballs and pummeled the readcoat with them, and also threw rocks and wood. The redcoat called for "backup" after someone smacked his face with a club; then the crowd began chanting "go ahead, shoot us!!" and other crude phrases...technically, they were playing with fire. Somewhere over all of the commotion came the earsplitting sound of a gunshot, causing a great deal of panic in both the Americans and the British. Seven (i think) Americans died, including a slave---but the redcoats did not intentionally harm them. *It turned out to be simply a misfire, but it sure caused great tension between Britain and newly forming America.
The soldiers did not eat anything during the so-called massacre. It was begun and done too fast for anything but firing of weapons.
The Boston Massacre was not a war, and it did not happen during a war. The Boston Massacre was a confrontation between a rowdy mob of people in Boston and a small detachment of British troops. Five civilians eventually died of wounds received during the event.
The soldiers were in Boston because of the Quartering Act which states that British soldiers will stay in colonists house. The colonists must give the soldiers food, clothes, materials, a bed, a room, and other things. This enraged the colonists. The soldiers would give in return protection from other countries or the Indians from the French and Indian War.
No one person was responsable for the Boston Massacre. The Colonists were just fed up with the British, and how they kept taxing the colonies, even though most thought that they had no right to. During the Massacre, a large group of Colonists saw about five British soldiers, and threw snow and rocks at them. The Colonists provoked them enough to cause them to fire into the crowd. The soldiers were later charged for murder, but John Adams defended them in a trial and they were released.
James Caldwell was killed in the Boston Massacre when two bullets fired by British soldiers hit him in the back. It is said he died almost instantly. Little else is known about him other than he was a mate of the Captain Morton vessel.
They ran away.
Captain Preston
The Patriots were attempting to demonstrate against British taxation, and the soldiers were there to maintain order.
John Adams
John Adams was a lawyer for the British soldiers during the Boston Massacre but soon joined the war efforts.
The British taxes on goods created hard feelings between the British and colonists. British soldiers panicked during a protest and caused the Boston Massacre. The British repealed all taxes except the one on tea in an effort to prove to the colonists that they had the power to tax the colonies. The colonists protested and caused the Boston Tea Party.
Yes they did during the Boston Massacre. The colonists did that because the soldier that killed a colonist because of an argument.
