Since they wanted control of the entire Pacific and lost the war, I would suggest that they did not succeed. Prior to and during the war their leaders were telling the Japanese people that they would deliver a war to the United States that we would not be able to endure because of what they perceived to be our genetic inferiority.

Not really. A number of capital ships were seriously damaged or sunk and the ability of the US pacific fleet to take on Japanese battleships and cruisers was greatly reduced. This reduction in US strength misled both Japanese and Americans into thinking that the USA had suffered a major disaster. The truth emerged later. The Japanese attack had completely failed to achieve its primary objective; their mission was to destroy all of the American carriers and they actually hit none of them. Second, and probably even more important, this cowardly attack without first declaring war outraged America. From the President and the Congress to the poorest farm-boy, everyone was determined to fight and defeat Japan. Admiral Yamamoto, the smartest of the Japanese senior officers, and the one who had advised against the strike on Pearl Harbor, said immediately afterwards "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant." He was oh so right.

How did Pearl Harbor attack Japan?

You have some serious reading to do. Pearl Harbor did not attack Japan. The US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor HI was attacked by the Japanese on Dec 7, 1941. The American ships were tied up at their morring points in the harbor, and there had been no declaration of war. This was an unprovoked attack by Japan on the United States.
