Yes, there is a coil on each spark plug.
Eight, one for each cylinder.
The are located under the coil packs. You can barely see the end of the plugs when you remove the pack.

They are under the coil packs. The coil packs are near the valve covers, and go into the intake manifold.
if its a v8 they have coil packs not a distributror
Does the engine have coil packs. Check that.
There are 16 of them, two per cylinder. They go in through the top of the valve covers, under the coil packs. If you remove the coil packs you will see the tubes the plugs are in.
Rather deep inside the engine, underneath the coil packs.
