Best Answer

Cattle are able to give birth to calves throughout the entire year. However, beef farmers will breed cows and heifers to calve around January and February, or March to April, or anywhere between January and April. Some beef producers follow the more holistic approach and calve around June to early July.

Breeding season can be any time of the year. Usually it's in the summer time that breeding season takes place, though.

What is a Seasonal Dairy?

A Seasonal dairy is an operation that only has its dairy cows milk for one or two seasons out of the year, unlike the conventional dairy which has cows milking all year round. It is this way that cows have a rest period before they are set to give birth to a calf and give milk for a number of months.

Is it cruel to cows to make them get or be pregnant continuously?

Cattle are not pregnant continuously. Just because a cow has a long gestation period (9 months + 2 weeks) shouldn't directly refer to the fact that a cow is "continuously" pregnant. After a cow calves, she is not bred right away. She's allowed to rest for two to three months before she is ready to be bred again. Just like in the wild, females get pregnant "continuously" as well. Many wild animals have a gestation period that is as long as or longer than a cow's, and even those that have short gestation periods get the urge to proliferate regularly as well--like mice and rats. And just like with how cows are raised, these same animals have to rest for a period before going through the whole reproductive process again. Some animals are seasonal breeders, others are not. Cows are not seasonal breeders, nor are pigs, which means they are liable to get bred any time of the year, regardless if the producer wants them bred at that particular time or not.

All ferret have seasonal coat changes, and in unaltered ferrets it coincides with their reproduction cycles as they are seasonal breeders. Female ferrets seasonal coat change occurs five or six weeks after the beginning of estrus. Seasonal hair loss in unaltered ferrets are more pronounced as compared to altered ferrets. advice from other contributors: Well, if they are pregnant, they mated with male ferrets.
