Don't! It's the worst thing you can do!!
I have these things in my apartment and I am just getting professional treatment now. It takes 40 days because I have to be the bait, sleep in my bed every night and GET BITTEN so that they will climb on my bed-frame which has been sprayed with a professional pesticide that causes them to die slowly and not be able to lay eggs.
The REASON I have to have my apartment treated like this (and it's unbearable) is that I used 2 smoke bombs in the rooms where I was being bitten, and they caused the bugs to scatter throughout the room.
Now there are a few of them hiding all over the place, it's a nightmare!
If you have a small infestation just vacuum and clean and if you can try and isolate your bed (double sided carpet tape around the outside of the sheet), you might be alright.
Otherwise, I know it's expensive and it sucks but really, call a reputable pro because, I've spent a year trying to beat these things on my own and it's ruined me. Save yourself the aggravation and sort it out now with someone who really knows how to get rid of them.
