You definitely do if you are starting a new paragraph whilst handwriting work, but if you are doing work on the computer, you don't have to- I think you have to leave a line to show a paragraph if you are typing it.
It is the same with speech- you have an indent for each new speaker, but stay on the same line if the same person is talking. (Leave a line if you type it)
