When I started my aquarium, the book I read recommended eight hours of artificial light a day. I put mine on a timer and actually only run it for six hours as the algae was terrible. Bear in mind, mine is a ten gallon fresh water tank, a salt water or living tank may be different.

NO, fish are used to night & day, just like you! Turn it off when you go to bed or put it on a timer. Allow the fish to have some sleep. Light produce heat as a result of which temperature changes which the fish don't like when sleeping.

Also, light disturbs the fish in sleep.

No, leaving the lights in your turtle tank on at night is not a good idea. Turtles follow roughly the same sleep pattern as you, and the natural pattern of the sunlight or artificial lighting helps them know when to sleep.

If the lights in the tank are kept on at all times, your turtles will have trouble sleeping and will be confused as to what time of the day or night it is.

I find with my turtles that when you turn the lights off at night to go to bed they will be asleep within about 10 minutes, and when the sunlight streams in through the window in the morning, they wake up, the same as me.

It is also important to have the lights in the tank turned off at roughly the same time at night, as this helps to sustain a regular routine for your turtles, which is important for them and keeps them happy and not stressed.

I used to turn mine off at night because I thought that was more like the real world the fish would be in. However I know many people keep a light on at night. I don't know of any studies that show one practice is better than the other.

No fish likes direct light. They hunt for other fish, so your lure should either sparkle or jiggle(to look like a wounded fish). Live bait should be very lively where possible

How often should you eat fish?

Ideally, never. Fish, especially large fish like tuna, are known to contain heavy metals which can damage your heart and brain. Commercial fishing may leave us with fishless oceans by 2040. And it's horrible for the fish, who die agonizing deaths from suffocation or blunt force injury.
