No, Aleve (naproxen sodium) does not contain aspirin; however, it is an NSAID and is an anti-inflammatory, as is aspirin. It does have some blood thinning properties and can upset the stomach, as can aspirin. They should not be taken together.

No. The active ingredient in Aleve is naproxen (in the prescription meds, Naprosyn and Anaprox).

No, Advil is a chemical called ibuprofen and Aleve is the brand name for Naproxin Sodium.

Nevertheless, they both have similar characteristics to aspirin - all three (aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxin sodium) are classified as NSAIDs, or Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, and share some side affects such as irritating stomach lining.

No. Acetaminophen (brand name: Tylenol) is not found in Aleve. Aleve is the brand name for a drug known as Noproxen Sodium a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID).

Acetaminophen works differently than NSAID's and the two can be taken together.

Many drugs such as cold, cough, and stronger pain meds do contain acetaminophen. You can overdose on acetaminophen. Read all the labels of over the counter drugs carefully.

Taking too much acetaminophen (more than 1000mg in a 4 hour period and more than 4000mg in 24 hours) can damage the liver.

No. Advil is Ibuprofen. But if you have a sensitivity to aspirin, you probably shouldn't take Advil either.
