In some cases but not others. Certain alleles can be dominant, which means that they will dictate the phenotype should there be a clash of alleles in the genotype. Other alleles can be recessive, which means you'd need both of these alleles in these genotype in order for it to dictate the phenotype. This means that if a person's phenotype represents a dominant trait, we cannot be certain what their genotype is. If, however, it represents a recessive trait, we know that their genotype must be the recessive allele twice.

Blood type A: AA,AO
Blood type B: BB, BO
Blood type AB: AB
Blood type O: OO


sO BY JUST LOOKING IF A PERSONS BLOOD TYPE FOR A PHENOTYPE IS A THEN YOUR GOING TO KNOW THAT THEIR GENOTYPE IS AA OR AO. remember that if the certain person has the blood type O their must also be another recessive gene for it to show in that certain trait or else it has no power over the other factor.

It depends on how much you know about the gene involved. For example, is it a sex-linked trait? Autosomal? Codominance? Incomplete dominance? Which phenotype is expressed by the recessive allele? The dominate?

In some cases you may be able to tell, others you will only have probabilities.
