Yes. The basic components of the refrigeration system are the refrigerant, compressor, condenser and receiver, expansion device and the evaporator. One cycle: Refrigerant travels to Compressor (A) to Condenser (B) to Expansion device (C) to evaporator (D). The refrigerant gas at low pressure and temperature is drawn into the compressor. The gas is compressed to a higher pressure, which causes an increase in the temperature. The refrigerant gas at a high pressure and temperature passes to the condenser (point B), where it is cooled (the refrigerant gives up its latent heat) and then condenses to a liquid. The high pressure, low temperature liquid is collected in the receiver. The high pressure liquid is routed through an expansion valve (point C), where it undergoes an abrupt reduction in pressure. That pressure reduction causes part of the liquid to immediately vaporize or flash. The vapor and remaining liquid are cooled to the saturation temperature (boiling point) of the liquid at the reduced pressure. At this point most of the refrigerant is a liquid. The boiling point of the liquid is low, due to the low pressure. When the liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator (point D), it absorbs heat from the process and boils. The refrigerant gas is now at low pressure and temperature, and enters the suction side of the compressor, completing the cycle.

It will, in basically all cases be a mixture of liquid and vapor, which means the refrigerant is saturated but with a few bubbles entering the evaporator. I really don't know waht you mean by a sensor to restart the system. There isn't any such thing. The clutch cycling switch is a pressure switch that cuts off the compressor as the pressure on the low-side of the sytem cycles low during normal operation, or when the sytem has a low charge. But this switch is not something you reset. It automatically closes itself, when the system pressure comes up enough to trip it, usually about 20 or 25 pounds of pressure. If you cant it to take a charge, you have another problem. Make sure your cahrhging hose is actually depressing the shrader vavle(looks like a tire valve) in the charging port to allow refrgerant to enter the system. Or you may have a problem with the tool you are using to charge up the system, or you may have a restriction in the system. Also, is charging the system really the issue? Is refrigerant getting in, but the compreesor dosent engage? Could it be that the system has refrigerant, but an electrical problem is causing the compressor to not turn on?

That sounds exactly like a low pressure shut down to me. Perhaps the gauge is wrong, did you test the high and low pressure sides? Those sets are set to test the low pressure side only, a professional set will do both, as you put refrigerant into the system it is common for the pressure to give a false high reading until the system stabilizes, especially if you let liquid r134 enter, the can should always be upright, allow the refrigerant to flow into the system on it's own, the pressure in the can is higher than the system is so it will take it as it equalizes. Try it again, I think it will take more.
