I don't believe the Flag stands for hate. It is just heritage of a people in Germany. It is just like the Confederate flag to Southerners in America.

The Nazis lived by a philosophy of hate, and the swastika flag was the symbol of Nazi party.
The swastika was origionally a religious symbol representing peace (origionated from India). However the Nazis got hold of the design and mutalated it in to something offensive. Although many find it offensive at heart its actually a religious symbol so its down to personal opinion.
