The way commerce used to work was, in order to shop at a given store you normally had to go to that store and do it in person - although even before electronic commerce there were some stores which did a lot of buinsess by mail. Now, however, any business can have a web site, and anyone in the world can go to that site and do business with them. It's actually a lot like mail order, but email is faster and easier.
