North Carolina initially did not ratify the Constitution because it believed that it did not adequately protect individual rights and liberties. They insisted on the inclusion of a Bill of Rights as a safeguard against potential government overreach. Once the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution, North Carolina ratified it in 1789.
The Davis Administration, led by Governor Edmund J. Davis from 1870-1874, played a significant role in shaping the writing of the 1876 Texas Constitution. Davis, a Republican, favored a more centralized government and sought to consolidate power at the state level. This influence is evident in the 1876 Constitution, which aimed to limit the authority of local governments and ensure a strong state government with greater control over local affairs. Additionally, the Davis Administration's policies, such as the establishment of a state police force, influenced the inclusion of provisions in the constitution dealing with law enforcement and public safety.
The Texas Constitution of 1836 established the Republic of Texas and granted broad powers to the president. The Constitution of 1845 admitted Texas as a state, but maintained many provisions from the 1836 constitution, including the strong executive branch. The Constitution of 1876, in response to concerns of centralized power, sought to limit the authority of the governor and return power to smaller governments, such as county governments. It also included provisions aimed at limiting state debt and land grants.
Florida ratified the United States Constitution on May 3, 1788.

== == The major writers of the constitution were William King (the president of the convention, who later became first governor of Maine), Thomas Jefferson, John Chandler, Albion K. Parris, William Pitt Preble, and John Holmes. William King may have written the largest part of the Maine Contitution but it was approved by all 210 delegates to the October 1819 convention in Portland. Thomas Jefferson wrote the educational sections of the Maine Constitution. It was approved by Congress in 1820.

In March of 1776, prior to the Declaration of Independence, South Carolina created an individual constitution to provide a governing body during the time of rebellion. The Constitution of 1776 established the former colony's first independent government. In this document, the South Carolina General Assembly discusses its grievances with Great Britain and outlines its new government. It is not for certain who was the architect of this document.
The Texas Constitution is a statutory meaning that the constitution incorporates detailed provisions in order to limit the powers of the government.
Originally 12 amendments were proposed to clarify open issues in the U. S. Constitution. Of these twelve, 10 were passed by the required three-fourths of the state legislatures and became known as "The Bill of Rights." Among the rights granted citizens were freedom of religion and the right to bear arms. The Georgia legislature convinced that the amendments were unnecessary, did not ratify the Bill of Rights. Regardless, when Virginia ratified them on December 15, 1791, the amendments became law. Joining Georgia in the belief the amendments were unneeded were Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The U.S. Constitution was designed to be difficult (although not impossible) to modify. It takes a 2/3rds vote in congress and a 3/4ths vote from the states to amend it.
Most state constitutions are far easier to amend, and so they end up being far longer than the U.S. Constitution. In particular, the voters can pass amendments. See the related link for more info.
