In Sweden and in Norway its known as jul, and in Finland its known as joulu.
Because Finland is "Suomi" only in Finnish and Finnish became a official language only in 1863. Finland, however, was a known location long before that and it was known by its Swedish name "Finland".
Finland and Sweden share a border. There is also a large body of water known as the Gulf of Bothnia between a large part of the two countries.
The Soviet Union wanted to secure bases in Finland so they would be able to defend their own country in case of a Nazi invasion. Also, Finland was a known supporter of the Axis powers.

Traditionally we eat ham. Some people eat turkey too. We also eat Turnip Casserole, Carrot Casserole and Potato Casserole. As you can see, we eat lots of casseroles. A traditional Christmas dish in Finland is also a beetroot salad. We drink mulled wine (known as "glögi" in Finland).
