Best Answer

The life expectancy of the French Bulldog is around 10-12 years, and there are a number of health problems that are linked to this breed. The short muzzle of the breed means that over exertion can lead to respiratory problems, and they can be very sensitive to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. Other issues to look out for include HD and elbow dysplasia, elongated soft palate, spinal problems, luxating patella, cataracts, Allergies, and thyroid problems. The parents of the French Bulldog puppy should have OFA and CERF certificates, and screening for vWD should also be carried out

How long do french bull dogs live?

The average lifespan of a bulldog is 8-10 years. The reason why the lifespan of a bulldog is so short is because selective breeding has caused them to develop certain health issues. Many of these health issues are directly related to the certain characteristic of the bulldog breed such as the short snout making them more likely to have breathing problems, and their stocky bodies make them more susceptible to bloat.

how much english bulldog cost?

a nice looking bulldog can cost at the highest 5,000 dollars and a pretty good bulldog can be about a couple hundred to a thousand dollars. a healthy English bulldog puppy, bred by responsible and caring breeders, will cost at least $1500 dollars, a bulldog that is show quality/ or has champion bloodlines will usually cost between $1500-4000+, an English bulldog puppy that is for sale under $1000 may have problems( health, temper, etc.) and may also have come from a puppy-mill. You can get an adult bulldog from a shelter/bulldog rescue league for usually a small adoption-fee, however rescued bulldogs often have health problems and may need medication given to them as frequently as everyday.

What diseases do bulldogs get?

Due to selective breeding the bulldog has developed many breed specific health issues. For one, dogs with low briskets such as the bulldog are more likely to get bloat. Another health concern is cherry eye, trachea and windpipe deformities, hip dysplasia, wrinkle infections, and eye problems. The health issues listed above don't even scratch the surface as to all the health problems that can occur, and commonly do, in bulldogs however those are the ones that most often affect bulldogs.

How many teeth does a bulldog have?

Well, it all depends on the bulldog. Is it a small bulldog? A big one? What are it's health conditions? So...be my guest to go inside a bulldog's mouth and count all the teeth that he/she has. You might as well give it a good brush and use some floss. :)

What is worth more a french poodle or an English bulldog?

It depends.....English bulldogs are loyal, charming and are great with families and children. They are very loving as you should not believe that they are mean even if they were once fighting dogs. They should not be thought of as guard dogs. They are also a bit more expensive to care for as they have dog asthma.French bulldogs are more small, and they are very friendly and delightful to be around. They are definitely smaller than an English bulldog but that does not mean less love or care for them. They are better with single families but also can be loved by children.I suggest adopting than buying at petshops! If you are looking for a dog that always wants to be with you and has a lot of personality, but is still active and playful, go for a french bulldog. An English bulldog is just the same, but they tend to have much more health problems like doggy asthma. They are definetley more expensive to care for.

what's the difference between olde english bulldog and english bulldog?

=The modern show Bulldog is a caricature of its former self. Any knowledgeable vet will denounce that its features are detrimental to its general well being.==The modern bulldog has been specifically bred to have these over done features for the show ring.==The Victorian Bulldog resembles our national breed of circa 1890. The bulldog from this period did not have over exaggerated features. Therefore the Victorian Bulldog has longer leg length & a longer muzzle with less wrinkles than the show type bulldog.==The Victorian Bulldog is ideally suitable to be owned as a family companion. General temperament is quiet, playful & loyal. I find that the Victorian Bulldog is more intelligent than the kc show type bulldog & responds better to simple obedience tasks.==They were not developed as a guard, but they will guard if trained to at a young age, they are no different to most domestic breeds. Generally males are 65-70lbs & about 19" tall, bitches are 55-65lbs & 18" tall.==when we discovered the Victorian Bulldog this was the dog for us, more robust, with less health problems and above all it still has that great Bulldog temperament.=
