As a bus Driver I have let people on the bus for free when they have lost wallets, given them a cheaper "special" fare when they haven't had enough money.
Shown people where to get the bus they need to get to a place I'm not going. Helped with luggage etc, held on to babies whilst mums carry off prams and sleeping children.
Helped wheelchair users on/off the bus, get into position on the bus, given directions, web sites phone numbers for places people have needed.
Ive let people off with small amounts of money for fares that cannot be changed like day/week passes, which I have to put back out of my own money.
I let all charity collectors travel for free, I've let people use my mobile when they are distressed and need to call home or are lost. Ive called the police when I've had young children on my bus who look to young to be alone (turns out they had run away!)
Ive stopped other buses when passengers are running late too wait for them. I've waited at bus stops for people saying tearful goodbyes etc even though I'm late....
