Well, they both have lenses (cornea), and shutters (iris), they can adjust focal distance, and have a layer to focus light on (retina or film).

However, the eye is more sensitive to light than a camera;

It 'sees' in color, in high light intensities, and monochrome in low light;

It can 'edit' the image before it leaves the eye, making edges sharper;

While both film and the retina can be overexposed (witness the bleaching effect you get after being in bright light), the retina can regenerate in seconds to minutes.

Pinhole camera and human eye similarities?

I think a pinhole camera is similar to the human eye because like the pinhole camera when it sees something it reflects the image but it is an inverted image. With the human eye the brain corrects it and turns it the right way up. The pinhole cameras image is not corrected because it does not have a lens.

What are the similarities and the differences between a camera and the human eye?

The human eye can be compared to a photographic camera because the pupil of the eye and the shutter on a camera, is what controls the amount of light let in. As for differences, a human eye is alive while a camera is an inanimate object invented by man.
