More information to issue:
I have the blessing of two great loves in my life-my dog, a chihauhau pug mix whom I've adopted since over a year ago, and my boyfriend, who I've been dating for 3 months. I am highly attached to my dog and am in love with my boyfriend and it breaks my heart that they don't get along. My boyfriend is really good to my dog and I, he never shouts or is physically violent yet my dog behaves very territorial towards me when he is around and aggressive to him.
Examples of behaviors: If boyfriend and I are watching a movie on the couch Honey will sit in my lap and precisely avoid snuggling the boyfriend. He helps me care for her sometimes, once he took her out to go to the bathroom and she hid under a car from him. In trying to coax her out from under the car she bit his hand. Yesterday morning I had left the apartment for an appointment and he stayed to take care of her. Honey scratched him, pissed and pooped on him and all over the carpet.I cannot fathom why my dog behaves this way other than jealousy. In the past other guys I dated got along great with her, Honey would bathe them in kisses and snuggle. My boyfriend likes dogs and really wants to have a positive relationship with her but his patience is wearing after she pooped on him the other day. Any ideas about what is behind this behavior? Any ideas how to better their connection?
