I am a 17yr old girl that has been emancipated and have run in to this question myself. I have found that most banks cannot issue a credit card to a minor, emancipated or not, unless they offer special types of accounts. Bank of America, whom I bank with, offers a student credit card that you can apply for if you are registered or currently attending a college or university.
After graduating at 16 I applied for this type of account and was informed that unless I have a parent or guardian co-sign I could only be issued a debit card. After my emancipation and registering for a local community college I could be eligible for the credit card however. I now have a student credit card with Bank of America, it was very easy to apply for after I brought in my certified copy of my emancipation and proof that I had registered for the college.
What I can recommend is ask around at different banks and see what they have to offer for emancipated minors, most banks will turn you away until you are 18 but if you are attending college or plan to do so soon Bank of America can help.
The first credit card, Diners, was invented by Ralph Schneider in 1950.
I filed Chapter 7 last year and when I applied for a credit card this year I was denied and the reason was "bancruptcy".

Some of the credit card issuers will allow a person of 15 years of age to obtain a credit card with a parent or guardian written consent. Check out the card issuer for additional information.
No
Yes, in Arkansas a 16 year old can petition the court for emancipation. The court will consider factors such as the minor's ability to support themselves financially and make independent decisions. If granted, the minor will be legally recognized as an adult and have the right to make decisions on their own behalf.
They may be emancipated, but it is not automatic.

To get emancipated, a 17-year-old girl typically needs to petition the court for emancipation, demonstrate financial independence, provide evidence of stable housing, and show that she is capable of making mature decisions. It is recommended to seek legal advice and assistance to navigate the legal process successfully.

One of the best ways to rebuild your credit is to get a prepaid credit card. You will have a credit limit of the amount that you have chosen to place on the card. They report the payments to the credit bureau and some will even upgrade you to a regular credit card after a year of activity.
