I can only think of two ways you can connect two computers if they don't have network cards: 1. Use a serial cable. All computers have serial ports, so this would be the easiest solution, though it will be a little slow. Look up directions online on how to do this. 2. If both computers have an IR (infra-red) port you can use that to connect the two. More input from FAQ Farmers: * or you can do it with a usb cable thingy, see it is like $5.00 and it works great if both have usb ports. by parallel cable by usb cable For newer macbooks hold down the t key to make it a drive then connect it to the desktop You can also buy ethernet / usb connectors. Pretty much its a wire with USB on one end and ethernet on the other. You just plug the USB side into your computer and now you have a ethernet port.
An onboard LAN is a built-in ethernet adapter on mother board, if you have an onboard LAN, then, there is no need to install another ethernet card for your purpose.
It shouldn't matter which port you use unless it involves a network switch.
Your computer must be connected to the internet to view an HTML document that is located on a website. Whether that connection is through a local area network (LAN) or not. If you normally connect to the web via the LAN, then yes, you'll need to be connected to the LAN. If instead you run an adhoc network, use a direct connection to infrastructure (like a router) or a modem, then you need that connection to reach the web.
I'm pretty sure LAN's are a group of computers connected to each other through routers/modems or ethernet cables. The internet it similar to LAN's but instead of connecting to other computers close by, it connects to computers all around the world.
LAN is wired WLAN is wireless
lan card is a part of the pc.
i want to connect two PC a one lan card . can i connect two PC
The equipment that are required to connect PC to laptop are 1.LAN card 2.ethernet adapter 3.UTP wire(1metre length)
99.9% of laptops have LAN port, locate it and use it.
If your laptop has a LAN port, good. If not, you can get a PCMCIA card for LAN for around $10 on eBay. Then, connect your laptop LAN port to your desktop LAN port with a Crossover ethernet cable. Make sure you specify you need a crossover cable at the computer store, they are different from the normal ethernet cables found in most stores. Now dialup to the internet with your desktop. Now you need to go to your dialup connections. In Windows XP, you can do this by going to Start>Connect To>All ConnectionsIt will be different in other versions of windows.Right click on your dialup connection and choose properties. Somewhere in the properties there should be an option to share the dialup connection. Do this. At this point, your laptop should have internet.Good luck!
An LAN card is a must if you wish to connect to a LAN but it is not required for WAN
