Although he was a good general, he was not very experienced at being president. He once quoted him self: "I would rather be right then be president". He defied the Supreme Court order by publishing the Indian Removal Act. This act pushed them out of their originally settling places and back even more. Andrew Jackson defied a Supreme Court order who said it was unconstitutional from the start. He resigned before he was officially impeached.

The Indian removal act.

Jackson supported the Indian Removal Act, but the Supreme Court did not oppose it. There was a case (Worcester v. Georgia) about a Georgia law making it illegal for non-Indians to live in Indian territory and a white missionary, Samuel Worcester, was arrested for violating the law. The Court ruled that Indian tribes were foreign nations and only the federal government could deal with them and their lands and so the Georgia law was unconstitutional. Jackson did not like the ruling, but the court did not ask Jackson or federal marshals to enforce its ruling. Eventually the Georgia state authorities released Worcester from custody.

Did President Obama defy a Federal Judges court order to cease implementing the Health Care Reform Law?

No, he did not "defy" anyone. After the Affordable Care Act passed congress, it was appealed by several state attorneys general. One federal judge upheld it, while another did not. The case eventually proceeded to the U.S. Supreme Court, which is the final say in such matters. The Supreme Court in mid-2012 voted to uphold the law, saying it was in fact constitutional.

Was Andrew Jackson for or against the state rights?

Jackson believed in a literal interpretation of the Constitution. He did not believe that states could secede or defy federal laws, but he did believe that Congress had only those powers enumerated in the Constitution. He vetoed a bill to build a highway in KY, but sent troops to SC to collect federal tariffs.

How is judicial power exercised?

To the extent the court issuing an order is recognized as legitimate, the court has power because either people agree to comply with its decisions or because the holder of a court order can get police or military to enforce the decision. A court whose decisions cannot be enforced is a nullity; it has no judicial power. A U.S. president once decided to defy the Supreme Court over an issue by saying that if the Chief Justice decided the way he did and the President won't go along, "where are the Court's troops to enforce the order?"

What did the supreme court decided in the Boy Scouts case?

U.S. Supreme Court Ruling that Boy Scouts Can Discriminate is 'Damaging but Limited,'.Calling the high court's 5-4 decision "damaging but limited," the ACLU said the ruling will not reach very far beyond groups like the Boy Scouts. Consequently, the decision will not advance the sweeping attacks that have been made recently on state and local laws nationwide that bar discrimination based on sexual orientation. In the case at issue, Boy Scouts of America v. James Dale, the U.S. Supreme Court considered whether the Scouting organization has a First Amendment right to defy a New Jersey state law barring discrimination based on sexual orientation. Last year, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled in favor of Dale, a former Assistant Scout Master who earned high marks for his work but was terminated when the Scouts' organization learned that he is gay.
