McCartney's father played in a band and his mother sang, so Paul grew up around music. He and John didn't start out thinking to be rock idols, even though they loved Elvis and Little Richard. They wanted to write songs for the likes of Frank Sinatra, so much did they want to follow in the footsteps of Carole King and Gerry Goffin.
There was a Skiffle craze in England and h formed a band called the Quarrymen. Almost all teenagers at that time in Liverpool were in some kind of a band. This was not unusual. His friends Pete Shotton, Eric Griffiths, Colon Hanton, and several others that came and went were in the Quarrymen. Their name came from Quarry Bank High School where they attended school. On July 7, 1957, at the St. Peter's Parrish church fete, John met Paul McCartney. About two weeks later, Paul joined the Quarrymen and the rest is history.
Well Paul McCartney's father was a jazz musician and so Paul was introduced to music that way. His father then taught him how to play piano and got him a job playing at a club during nights and Paul became interested in music then and even more so around the time of Elvis.
