St. Catherine of Sienna was a very devout catholic. She believed in the Trinity and in the birth, life, crucifixion and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She believed in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. She believed in suffering for the love of Jesus. She believed in giving all for the love of Jesus and in trying to be like Him in all things, no matter how painful.
St. Catherine of Siena was known for her influence on church politics and her advocacy for reform within the Catholic Church during the 14th century. She played a crucial role in convincing Pope Gregory XI to return the papacy to Rome from Avignon, France. Additionally, she was a prolific writer and theologian, known for her letters, treatises, and prayers that continue to inspire many to this day.
St Catherine of Siena was a Dominican nun best known for her extraordinary piety and for her stigmata, wounds she received for her adoration of the cross. She is recognized by her stigmata and a crown of thorns or roses, and is usually pictured adoring the crucifix, which sometiumes has a lily or roseintertwined.
In 1970 she was declared the first female Doctor of the Church. She preached widely and campaigned for peace between the states and principalities in Italy by traveling to Avignon France, the principal seat of pope Gregory XI. Catherine implored him to return to Rome, which he did. Soon after the Great Schism of Western Church was starting. Catherine supported the new Pope Urban VI by dictating letters and becoming Urban's trusted adviser. She did not live to see a united Roman Church.
She had many miracles in her life but she had 2 that were most known:
-She would help people in the hospital because she had healing power thus getting the name the doctor of the church.
-When she prayed the crucifix would stab her in the hands and feet and she was seen levitating countless times.
Saint Catherine of Siena was most well known for aiding people suffering from the plague. She nursed them and converted them in their last moments so that they could go to heaven. She also traveled to Pisa to convince the Pope to return to his office in Rome.
