When Henry became king he appointed Thomas Becket as his chancellor. Becket's job was an important one as it involved the distribution of royal charters, writs and letters. The king and Becket soon became close friends.

Thomas Becket fell out with The King (Henry ll) because Henry chose Thomas to be archbishop because he wanted all the church on his side but instead Tomas went to the the churchs side and forgot all about Henry.

Thomas becket became friends with Henry as a young boy/ teen/early twenties because they spent a lot of time together due to his father showing more fatherly love for Henry in one day than his actual father did in a lifetime. my name is jeff

After years of quarreling Thomas Becket and Henry II met in France. Henry asked Becket to serve him again and become the Archbishop of Canterbury. Becket this time agreed and sailed of to England to start his new job but he broke a promise to the King, he banished the baron and asked the Pope to punish the Archbishop of York.
