Best Answer

They helped win the war because they were very trained people, and had a lot of experience.

(second response) That is not quite accurate. The British Army had incomparably more experience by the time the US forces finally got into combat in north Africa. The biggest contribution of the US, both before and after war was declared between Germany and the US, was probably military materiel. Because of isolationist attitudes in the US before "Pearl Harbor" the US Military was relatively weak when war was declared, and US soldiers could not be of much help for a long time. It was 1943, with the invasion of Italy by British and US armies, before US soldiers got into really large scale combat.

I will leave the matter of how well trained US soldiers were be, except to say that it is well known that the German Army was vastly better trained and led, except for the interference from Hitler at the top.
