It is possible that Shakespeare could have read the works of Geoffrey Chaucer as Chaucer's writings were well-known and influential during the Renaissance period. I don't know what you mean by "show". Do you mean play? Are you aware that the radio was invented in the early 20th century?
James I appears to have been quite fond of them. We have records of the Master of the Revels, Edward Tilney, which show that James requested Shakespeare plays on a number of occasions.
